Surrey Hills Orchestra

Surrey Hills Orchestra is a long established, community orchestra. We are a strong community of musicians who are proud of, and embrace a diversity of ages and players from professional and non-professional backgrounds. We encourage members to develop their skills as soloist players, and each year we run a Concertofest where players are invited to perform with the orchestra. Rehearsals take place each Tuesday evening from 7.30pm. Surrey Hills Orchestra stages three major concerts each year in May, August, and December. Limestone Coast Symphony Orchestra

The Limestone Coast Symphony Orchestra formed in 2013 to provide opportunities for musicians in our community to participate in an exciting orchestral experience.  Each year we provide high quality musical performances to audiences in the Limestone Coast region. Our musicians range from dedicated music students to professional musicians who meet regularly throughout the ten-week rehearsal period, in the lead up to our seasonal performances. Our orchestra also offers a platform for local soloists, choristers and composers to launch and showcase their musical talent and creative passion.

Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra

The Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra (Zelman Symphony) was formed in 1933 in memory of Alberto Zelman Jnr (1874–1927), one of Australia’s most influential early musicians and the founder of the original Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 1906. A highly gifted violinist, conductor, teacher and musical leader, Zelman was widely respected and deeply admired before his untimely death at the age of 52. Following the professionalisation of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in 1932, the remaining amateur players established the Zelman Memorial Symphony Orchestra to honour Zelman’s legacy, with renowned pedagogue Bertha Jorgensen as its first concertmaster. The Adelaide Tango Orchestra, Tipica

The Adelaide Tango Orchestra, Tipica provides playing opportunities for string players interested in Tango music, performing for the Adelaide Tango Dance community and raising the profile of the Argentine Tango in Adelaide. The orchestra comprises piano and double bass (the rhythm section), violin, viola and cello (string section), and bandoneon and accordion (bandoneon section), singers, harmonica and guitar. Burnside Symphony Orchestra

The Burnside Symphony Orchestra was formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 1956 to provide the opportunity for amateur musicians to play major works from the symphonic repertoire, and to allow aspiring conductors and soloists to gain experience of performing with a full symphony orchestra. The orchestra performs an annual concert program in the Burnside Ballroom. Our soloists are usually local musicians from the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra or the Elder Conservatorium. The Unley Symphony Orchestra (USO) is a community orchestra based in the City of Unley, with members aged from 20 to 80+, including university students and retirees. Essendon Symphony

The Essendon Symphony is a community orchestra based in Melbourne’s Moonee Valley that rehearses every Tuesday night from 7.15 – 9.45. We perform a variety of concerts throughout the year and have an excellent reputation both for our kids concerts, and our formal classical repertoire. Concerts are usually held in the Clocktower Centre. We have a wide age range and ability range of players and thoroughly enjoy rehearsals as well as cake during the break (when we can get it).

Vasek Young String Players Foundation

VYSPF is a registered charitable organisation dedicated to serving the larger community by working for the improvement of quality in Australian music education through courses, workshops, performances and the provision of resources. The VYSPF aims to provide scholarships and grants for WA string players under the age of 25, to develop a string resource centre for the WA music community and to establish a collection of fine string instruments for use by deserving students.
