Mrs Janet Fernandes

I have performed on viola with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria. While living in The Netherlands I performed with a variety of Baroque ensembles. Currently I am teaching at two of Melbourne’s leading independent schools. I studied Violin pedagogy at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Netherlands with Qui van Woerdekom and his approach has informed my teaching for more than 25 years. A few former students are now string teachers and I have prepared viola students for successful university entrance auditions.

Mr Andrew Metaxas

My teaching approach draws on many different resources to provide the student with a thorough and well-rounded approach to the “how” and “why” of violin playing. I focus students on enjoying and appreciating music and encourage participation in orchestras and chamber music ensembles. My own approach to playing has been shaped by many years of playing at the highest levels with the Melbourne, Tasmanian and West Australian Symphony Orchestras and as a chamber musician. I want my students gain from a rich and fulfilling life in music just as I have! For more information, see http://andrewmetaxasstrings.com/.
