Are you passionate about music and skilled in string instruments? Do you have a desire to share your knowledge and inspire the next generation of musicians? Glasshouse Christian College is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled String Teacher to join our vibrant Instrumental Music team in 202

This 2.5-3 days per week position includes:
Individual and small group lessons on violin, viola, cello and double bass (ability to teach lower strings desirable)

• Leading our Year 3 strings program (Thursday)
• Teaching strings in the Year 5 Instrumental Program (Wednesday)
• Directing and conducting our Primary and Secondary string orchestras (Wednesday and Thursday)
• Participation in concerts, assemblies, showcases and College events

Specifically, the IMT (Instrumental Music Tutor) is responsible for;
1. Provide high-quality string instrument instruction to students of all ages and skill levels.
2. Develop personalised lesson plans tailored to each student’s goals, abilities, and learning styles.
3. Direction of our Junior School and Senior School String Orchestras
4. 2 hours per week leading the Year 3 Smart Strings and Year 5 Instrumental Immersion programs with support from our Primary classroom teacher.
5. Foster a positive and supportive learning environment conducive to musical growth and development.
6. Prepare students for performances, recitals, auditions, and competitions as needed.
7. Collaborate with other music teachers and staff to promote a cohesive and enriching musical education program.
8. Stay updated on current trends, methodologies, and repertoire in string instrument instruction.

What we are looking for:
1. Relevant qualifications or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
2. Ability to teach a variety of ages (Primary and Secondary). Experience in preparing students for exams would be advantageous.
3. Previous teaching experience preferred. Willingness to mentor and guide students through their musical journey.
4. Hold a current, valid Blue Card as required under the Working with Children.
5. Strong performance and teaching skills on at least one string instrument, with confidence teaching viola, cello and/or double bass.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and motivate students.
7. Proven ability to work as a constructive member of a team with a professional, courteous manner
8. Passion for music education and a commitment to fostering a lifelong love of music in students.
9. Maintain a degree of flexibility in working hours from time to time as required for the position.
