AUSTA Playing Opportunities

Maroondah Symphony Orchestra

The Maroondah Symphony Orchestra is a community orchestra founded in 1964 and based in Ringwood, a suburb in Melbourne’s east. Conducted by Willem van der Vis, we present four programs of classical music each year at the George Wood Performing Arts Centre, in Ringwood, with two programs repeated at Cowes and a retirement village in Croydon. Rehearsals are at 8pm on Tuesday evenings in Ringwood.

New players are welcome, particularly violins, violas and low brass. A minimum standard of AMEB Grade 6 or equivalent is expected. We do not audition, but players should feel comfortable meeting the challenge of playing a wide variety of the symphonic repertoire. Prospective orchestra members are engaged for a trial period of the full rehearsal time for one concert.
