This presentation will provide an introduction to the basics of double bass pedagogy and will highlight how the instrument differs to the other members of the string family. Aimed toward string educators who wish to develop a stronger understanding of the double bass, it will look at basic positions and scales and will discuss left and right hand techniques relevant to student bassists. It aims to equip string educators with tools to assist the young bass players taking part in their school ensemble programs and will include demonstrations and the opportunity for Q&A.
